From IT Support to DevOps: My Journey of Technical Evolution

Welcome to my first personal blog post. If you are here, you are likely following my journey as I transition into the world of DevOps.

Where I Started

For over five years, my professional life revolved around IT support and systems administration. A significant portion of this time was spent in Qatar, managing critical infrastructure and ensuring high-availability systems. While I loved the “under the hood” work of keeping servers running, I realized that the future of technology lies in how we automate and scale those systems.

The Pivot to Cloud & Automation

Recently, I made a conscious decision to shift my focus toward automation and modern cloud technologies. I wanted to move beyond just maintaining servers to building the automated engines that power them.

To make this vision a reality, I joined IPSR Solutions for a specialized DevOps Internship. This experience has been transformative. During my time here, I have gained hands-on experience in:

  • CI/CD Pipelines: Building and optimizing deployment workflows using Jenkins.
  • Orchestration: Managing and scaling containerized applications with Kubernetes.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Working extensively with AWS and Linux (RHEL).

What’s Next?

Today, I sit at the intersection of my solid foundation in systems administration and my new expertise in DevOps. I am eager to apply this hybrid skill set to solve complex infrastructure challenges in a professional role.

Thank you for following my journey. This blog, hosted on an AWS RHEL 9 instance I configured myself, is just the beginning!
